The UC Berkeley School of Information’s online Master of Information and Cybersecurity (MICS) prepares students with the technical, conceptual, and practical skills needed for a professional career in cybersecurity. The MICS program features live online classes, interactive course work developed by faculty from the I School and the College of Engineering, and an in-person immersion. Graduates will be prepared to pursue leadership roles in organizations across sectors and industries. [+]

The UC Berkeley School of Information offers the online Master of Information and Cybersecurity (MICS), designed to train students with professional experience for a career in cybersecurity. MICS students make valuable connections with peers and faculty, and benefit from I School resources and UC Berkeley’s proximity to Silicon Valley.

The MICS program features live classes taught by experienced Berkeley faculty, engaging course content, a capstone project, and an on-campus immersion to give students a holistic understanding of complex cybersecurity principles.

The MICS program is designed for mid-career professionals with backgrounds in computer science, information technology, electrical and computer engineering, or related fields. The Master of Information and Data Science (MIDS) is an online degree program for professionals looking to become leaders in the field of data science. The program features a multidisciplinary approach that encompasses the entire data lifecycle, from planning and gathering data to analyzing and presenting findings. Coursework in this program examines issues of privacy, explores machine learning, and considers techniques for data storage and management. Students in the program benefit from UC Berkeley’s strong ties to the Bay Area and Silicon Valley.

Class sessions are delivered live in an online classroom. Classes are taught by many of the same School of Information (I School) faculty and data science professionals who teach our on-campus programs. Students are fully engaged members of the UC Berkeley I School community.
