Jönköping University is characterized by internationalization, an entrepreneurial spirit, and collaboration with the surrounding society.

Jönköping University (JU) is one of three Swedish private, non-profit institutions of higher education with the right to award doctorates. JU operates on the basis of an agreement with the Swedish Government and conforms to national degree regulations and quality requirements. The university is organized as a group of companies with five subsidiaries - four schools and a service company - owned by Jönköping University Foundation.

Research and education are carried out at:

  • Jönköping International Business School
  • School of Education and Communication
  • School of Engineering
  • School of Health Sciences

These four specialized and well-focused schools, each with a distinct profile, address a portfolio of exciting interlinked topics relating to some of the major issues of our time: internationalization, entrepreneurship, business renewal, innovative learning, a holistic approach to health throughout life, an interface between the economy and technology in the information society, and production systems for small- and medium-sized enterprises.

Jönköping International Business School (JIBS) conducts research and offers undergraduate and graduate programmes, a doctoral programme and executive education. Together these activities form an internationally competitive business school, especially in the areas of entrepreneurship and business renewal.

There has been a very positive development since the launch in 1994. This has been achieved by the expansion of courses, undergraduate and graduate programmes and research at JIBS, along with a hard and well-motivated strive for development. Because of a fast recruitment process due to the fact that JIBS is part of a foundation and not state-owned, we have been able to employ highly qualified professors making JIBS very competitive among business schools in both the Nordic countries and internationally. As of September 2007, there are 31 full professors employed at JIBS.

JIBS has rapidly established itself as being the strongest academic environment in Scandinavia for entrepreneurship and research on small and medium-sized enterprises. JIBS is internationally very well reputation when it comes to research in trade, infrastructure, regional development, media management, family ownership, and tax law.
