The expansion of Spanish has been accompanied by a growing popularity of its study in recent years. Programs such as Visiting Professors to Impart Spanish as a Foreign Language or the French Educational Reform have triggered the demand for teachers of Spanish.

The objective of this master's degree is the integral and multidimensional formation of teachers of Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE) through an interdisciplinary program, since the future ELE teacher needs to go beyond the training in Spanish Language, General Linguistics or Literature, and requires fundamental knowledge such as Sociolinguistics or ICTs.

The requirements for access and admission to official Master's studies at the International Valencian University are established in accordance with article 16 of Royal Decree 1393/2007, which establishes the organization of official university education.

In order to access the official Master's degrees, it will be necessary to hold an official Spanish university degree or another issued by a higher education institution of the European Higher Education Area that empowers in the country issuing the degree for access to Master's degrees.

Likewise, graduates in accordance with educational systems outside the European Higher Education Area will be able to access without the need for their qualifications to be recognized, after verification by the University that they accredit a level of training equivalent to the corresponding official Spanish university qualifications and that they empower in the country issuing the degree for access to postgraduate education. Access by this means will not imply, in any case, the homologation of the previous title that the interested party is in possession, nor its recognition for purposes other than that of taking Master's degrees.

Applicants for other degrees with experience as teachers of Spanish or of Spanish as a foreign language may also be admitted to the program.
