Introduction
What is the University of Fashion?
The University of Fashion works very differently than most fashion design schools. We don’t charge a separate tuition fee for each individual class you take. Instead, we give you 24/7, on-demand access to all of our many hundreds of full-length video lessons for a low yearly subscription fee. UoF’s lessons are taught exclusively by fashion school professors and industry professionals, never by amateurs. You’ll see the exact same lectures and "how-to" demonstrations taught by the best fashion schools, but without rigid class times at inconvenient locations. Instead, you decide what, when and where you want to learn. The University of Fashion offers lessons in all the major fashion disciplines: draping, pattern making, CAD pattern making, accessories, sewing, fashion art, knits, business, product development, lectures, CAD fashion art, childrenswear and more. Most schools charge a big tuition fee to teach a single fashion subject in a particular fashion discipline, like sewing or pattern making. At the University of Fashion, you will pay a lot less to access every fashion subject in every discipline!

What is Draping?
Draping is the art of manipulating fabric directly on the dress form in three dimensions. It is the most creative way for a designer to turn design ideas into reality. You will learn the art of draping from the experts.

Lessons for every Skill Level
Beginner If you’re new to draping, start with our “Intro to Dress Forms”, then watch our lesson called “Draping Basics: Muslin Blocking Marking Pressing”. After that, try our “Bodice Sloper”, then our “Straight Skirt Sloper” lessons, followed by our “Bustier Bodice” and “Princess Bodice” lessons. Next, follow along with our “Sheath Dress” and “A-Line Dress” lessons. Finish up by mastering our “Flared Skirt Straight Grain Center”, “Yoke Dirndl Skirt” and “Fitted Torso Sloper” lessons, in that order. You can then feel confident moving along to our Intermediate lessons. Intermediate Our Intermediate lessons will teach you how to drape design details like cascade ruffles, button front and button placket closures, silhouette styles including the dropped shoulder, princes' kimono and peplum and how to set a banded and convertible collar. Advanced Our advanced lessons include the art of draping bias garments, creating tailored silhouettes, merging draping with pattern making to design a lined jacket and much more. The University of Fashion offers many, many more draping lessons. Check them out by clicking the Lessons tab on our homepage at UniversityofFashion.com.
