Introduction

The Master of Music Education program is designed for experienced music educators who are passionate about advancing their knowledge, skills, and leadership abilities in the field of music education. Our program offers a comprehensive and specialized curriculum that prepares graduates to excel as music teachers, curriculum developers, researchers, and advocates for music education.

Through a blend of coursework, research, and practical experiences, students in our program deepen their understanding of music pedagogy, curriculum design, assessment practices, and educational research. They engage with cutting-edge research and best practices in music education, explore diverse approaches to teaching music, and learn how to create inclusive and culturally responsive music programs.

The Master of Music Education curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including music theory, music history, performance pedagogy, choral and instrumental methods, music technology, and music advocacy. Students also have the opportunity to specialize in areas such as early childhood music education, special education and music therapy, or community music education, depending on their interests and career goals.

Throughout the program, students have opportunities to apply their learning in real-world settings through practicum experiences, internships, or student teaching placements in schools, community organizations, or music studios. They work closely with experienced music educators and faculty mentors to develop their teaching skills, implement research-based instructional strategies, and reflect on their teaching experiences to continuously improve their practice.

Upon completion of the program, graduates are prepared to become highly effective music educators and leaders in the field of music education. They may pursue careers as K-12 music teachers, music supervisors or coordinators, college music instructors, or community music directors. Whether they aspire to teach in schools, community organizations, or private studios, our graduates are equipped to inspire a love of music and empower individuals to achieve their musical potential. Join us and embark on a transformative journey toward becoming a master music educator.
