The London Institute of Banking & Finance (LIBF)

Introduction

The London Institute of Banking & Finance (LIBF) has been a respected name in British education for over 140 years. We provide undergraduate and postgraduate courses for UK and international students on a part-time and full-time basis. As a smaller, specialist university college with an expert faculty, we are perfectly placed to help you on your career journey – we’ve helped thousands of students around the world to do just that.

Our courses provide the skills you need for a career in business, management, data science and finance with a strong emphasis on practical skills taken from real-life situations.

What is distance learning?

Distance learning allows international and UK-based students to study for an LIBF degree flexibly and online. Studying at your own pace allows students to combine their studies with a full-time job or other commitments.

Why study at LIBF?

We have a reputation for excellent teaching that meets the practical needs of the financial sector and those working within it. When you study with us, you'll learn from academics who've enjoyed successful careers in banking and finance – industry leaders who'll share their experiences with you to enrich your learning. And when you join LIBF, you join a global community of professionals and alumni. This network can help support you at any stage of your career.

LIBF is a registered higher education provider with the Office for Students. For our distance-learning courses, we work with a partner who brings with them 20 years of online learning experience and expertise – the International University of Applied Sciences (IU).

What is the LIBF’s history?

Back in 1879, there were no qualifications for bank workers and very few opportunities to progress. United by the need for professional recognition for their skills and experience, a small group of banking professionals set up the first Institute of Bankers in England and Wales which later became LIBF.

Today, LIBF provides students all over the world with everything they need to learn flexibly online, anywhere, and is the only professional body in the world with taught degree awarding powers. We have a global community of students and alumni spanning over 120 countries.

We offer five distance-learning courses – three at undergraduate level, one master’s and an MBA. Fees are split up over your chosen study duration and are the same in total whether you study full-time or part-time.

Career prospects

Our courses equip our students with the broad skillset they need for a career in business and finance. Many of our students go on to graduate trainee schemes or join one of the ‘Big Four’ accounting and consulting firms (PwC, KPMG, EY and Deloitte). Mature students find their new skills and qualifications open up new career opportunities or allow them to take their own business ventures to the next level.

At the LIBF, we believe in providing ongoing support to our students. Even before you join us, our support staff will be on hand to help you with your application, enrolment and other administrative processes.
