Texas A&M University

Introduction

The Master of Science in Management Information Systems (MS-MIS) program at Texas A&M University equips students with cutting-edge technical and strategic managerial skills needed to excel in the evolving field of information systems. The program focuses on data management, cybersecurity, analytics, and digital transformation strategies, preparing graduates to lead IT initiatives and align technology solutions with business goals. Students engage in hands-on projects, and real-world case studies, and interact with industry leaders through the Council for the Management of Information Systems (CMIS) network and other Fortune 500 firms through the Aggie Network, which comprises over 500,000 former students.

The curriculum balances advanced technical coursework with business-oriented topics. Graduates are well-prepared to enter roles such as data analysts, IT managers, systems consultants, product managers, and digital transformation specialists. The program's strong emphasis on teamwork, communication, and leadership ensures students can effectively manage complex projects and drive organizational innovation. With close ties to industry, students benefit from internships, corporate partnerships, and access to innovative research.

Designed for recent graduates and working professionals, the MS-MIS program provides a competitive edge in the job market, making it ideal for those aspiring to succeed in high-demand fields. Recent program updates offer more course flexibility, with five required courses and seven elective courses from which to choose across Mays Business School and Engineering/Computer Science. In addition, students are allowed to complete multiple internships. Graduates leave the program with the ability to not only manage information systems but also to strategically use technology to enhance business performance and competitiveness. Competitive scholarships for incoming students are typically for $1,000 – $2,000 annually. Graduate assistant (GA) positions are available within the department and across campus on a competitive basis. For scholarship recipients and GAs, non-resident tuition waivers for each semester are awarded.
