Introduction
Postgraduate Diploma in Aviation by distance learning (jointly organised with Massey University, New Zealand)
PROGRAMME OVERVIEW
The Postgraduate Diploma in Aviation (PGDipAv) is a broad aviation management qualification. You will learn the theoretical and practical aspects of human factors in aviation, management in aviation systems, strategic management and design as well as management of airports. Subject to approval by your supervisor, you may also choose a specialised aviation topic that interests you.
PROGRAMME STRUCTURE
Each paper is allocated a value of 30 credits, which gives an indication of the total time needed to complete the assessment requirement of about 25 hours of study a week per paper.
There are 2 semesters a year and you can take a maximum of 2 papers per semester.
Course Requirements
The course of study shall consist of 120 credits at 700-level (4 papers with a value of 30 credits each).
AWARD OF POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA
The PGDipAv will be awarded to those who have successfully completed a total of 120 credits (including cross credits). In cases of sufficient merit, the diploma may be awarded Distinction.
Should you wish to pursue a Master of Aviation, you must complete 190.704 (Research Methods in Aviation) in your course of study in the PGDipAv.
PROGRAMME DELIVERY
- The programme is delivered in a self-study format.
- You are assessed based on assignments submitted.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Academic Requirements
You must have a Bachelor' s degree or equivalent, as well as sufficient background in aviation to benefit from the programme. Admission into the programme is subject to the approval of the Head of School, School of Aviation, Massey University.
English Language Requirement:
You must possess 1 of the following:
- Minimum Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 550 and above;
- Minimum C6 grade for GCE O-level English language;
- Minimum International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.0 (with no band lower than 5.5); or
- An equivalent qualification.
Note: With the exception of the GCE O-level results, all other results dated more than 2 years prior to the date of application will not be accepted.
