Introduction
There is no organization, person, or entity that is not affected by global logistics and supply chain management. It is one of the largest and fastest-growing areas of business. This area of business is also witnessing significant levels of innovation in process and technology year after year! As companies continue to rely increasingly on the supply chain that has a global footprint, logistics is a critical success factor and if not done well, it can have a severely negative impact on the performance of the business. Conversely, if done well, logistics has a direct positive impact on increasing speed and lowering cost.
At the end of the day, the focus is on getting the product to the customer as soon as possible and with the quality that the customer expects. While simple in the outcome, this process can be utterly complex and full of risks. The involvement of suppliers, logistics companies, warehouses, transport providers, weather, other natural phenomena, man-made disasters, and a variety of other factors can influence the outcome significantly.
Professionals who are trained in supply chain and logistics advise the management on how to decrease the risks and increase efficiency through automation, management of stakeholders, warehousing and manufacturing optimization, and risk management.
The Rushford MBA in Logistics and Supply Chain Management is designed to focus on management and operations within the supply chain and logistics function. The course not only has an intense focus on the fundamentals of supply chain and logistics but also on skill-building so students can apply concepts and techniques to real-world challenges.
