This program introduces students to the essential concepts of project control and serves as an introduction to the business discipline. Throughout the course, a structured strategy is employed to help students develop their competencies in the particular business topic being discussed. To ensure that the student is a valuable asset to any project in which they participate, the major objective of the course is for them to demonstrate mastery of the business discipline throughout their time there.
Introduction to project controls and project management concepts; defining needs; scoping; creating work breakdown structures; integrating data; bringing it all together; the project; the project manager, project controls team, and other members of the Project Controls Team; the role of project controls in organizations; communicating and documenting projects; the project manager’s role in project controls. The following actions are included in planning and control: planning and scheduling; managing project schedules and controlling projects; resource types, considerations, and allocations; and monitoring and assessing performance. Costing, budgeting, managing costs, and controlling costs entail allocating resources, accruing accruals, and making payments. Estimating is a function and plays a critical part in project management. Change management and control are two distinct concepts. Proper documentation is crucial for projects and contracts.
