Our BS in Cybersecurity and Networking is delivered with an interactive, hands-on methodology (using actual tools found in the work environment) for leveraging network solutions, and cyber detection and prevention that may provide you with needed skills starting on day one.

  • Students are presented with the opportunity to learn how to harness the power of PowerShell in a Windows environment so that they may leverage network administrative tasks across an entire organization through the scripting process.
  • Hodges U provides virtual machines for students to set up a variety of mock network configurations to write, test, and execute PowerShell scripts, which may help to build and refine their skills before entering the workforce.
  • Earn your industry certifications and degree simultaneously. Available industry certifications include MOS, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Net+, CCNA, MCP, CompTIA Security +, & CompTIA Linux+.
  • Learn cutting-edge solutions for current cybersecurity and networking issues from faculty who have relevant practical in-field experience. Listen as your professor, who works at a governmental agency, provides incredible, real-life examples of cyberattacks and explains not only how the attack was leveraged, but also how it could have been prevented. This knowledge translates into training on how to best detect and shield an organization from a cyberattack, as well as how to organize and complete organizational triage after a successful attack has been leveraged against an organization.
  • Students could expand their security skills in our Ethical Hacking course. Students are immersed in an interactive environment where they are shown how to scan, test, hack, and secure their own systems. The lab-intensive environment readies each student with in-depth knowledge and practical experience with current essential security systems.
  • Our IT classrooms run on an independent network allowing students to use simulation software for networking, security detection, and incident analysis. This simulation opportunity may help students develop and strengthen cybersecurity and networking skills by allowing them to run tests and simulate situations for real-world, real-time learning that complements traditional instructional methods.
  • Students will have the opportunity to create a variety of virtual networks with servers and workstations, learn how to operate any size network effectively and efficiently, and learn how to detect, resolve, and prevent various types of security threats on an organization’s networked resources.

What Sets Hodges U Apart?

If you are looking to study computer-related degrees, you probably want to know why you should attend Hodges U. Our programs are uniquely designed to ready you to deliver results on complex, IT-related projects.

  • Industry-related IT courses that are formulated to build essential knowledge as students proceed through their chosen degree pathways.
  • Interactive learning is at the core of each of our IT courses. Hodges U takes active learning to a whole new level by providing simulation labs, virtual machines, and virtual networks for students to test their skills and knowledge before they are asked to perform in the workplace.
  • Every student is introduced to the basics of programming using Java and learns to apply programming concepts to complete very basic software development tasks. Students get the opportunity to write simple programs that exemplify the cohesion of software functionality with network installations and security protocols.
  • Project management is integrated into every IT degree program in order to promote the skills that will help students to manage multiple simultaneous IT projects found in today’s work environments.
  • Students may take industry certification exams at Hodges U at a reduced student rate, either as a stand-alone certification or as part of their coursework. Upon graduation, students could also receive skill-specific certificates in addition to their degree diplomas.
  • Each BS Information Technology Degree ends with the Systems Analysis & Solutions Architecture course. This course provides students the opportunity to showcase their understanding of how to transform business requirements through the entire systems development life cycle to produce a finalized plan for the implementation of an integrated information system within an organization, thus providing evidence that the student is ready to take on an IT job within their specified field.

Women in Technology

Paving the way for women in tech fields everywhere!

At the Fisher School of Technology, we believe that the inclusion of all individuals, including women and those from underrepresented populations in STEM, is critical for the continued growth and success of the IT field.

Look at it this way, technology corporations of the future are looking for new and innovative ideas that work for everyone. Without the input of technology-focused women in leadership roles, the development of products we use every day falls short of meeting the needs of the women who use them.

“What many people don’t understand is that computing is the foundation of just about every other Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) discipline,” said Lanham. At Hodges University, the Fisher School of Technology offers degrees that help students develop the skills needed to make a positive impact in the technology sectors of our business community.

It has been shown that girls do not pursue technology careers at the same rate as their male counterparts because they are not exposed to computer hardware, software, and coding at a young enough age to pursue computer information technology degrees. Instead of coming into the college environment with similar knowledge as their counterparts, women feel behind and end up abandoning what could be an excellent career pathway.
