Introduction
The course provides students with an in-depth understanding of the development of contemporary societies (19th and 20th centuries). This development is characterized by the opposing development of globalization and the opening of borders on the one hand and the strengthening of national identities and cultural particularisms on the other. One focus of the training is on mastering new information technologies (analysis of images and electronic sources).
The first part of the study program consists of four modules and represents the propaedeutic part of the course. These modules enable students to acquire precise and critically reflected knowledge of the history of the 19th and 20th centuries as well as historical methods and working techniques.
The second part of the course consists of two specialization blocks. Six modules address the different approaches to contemporary history: political history, history of international relations, social, economic, cultural and media history.
Another six modules deal with areas of social and cultural sciences: political science, law, sociology, economics, religion, media and communication sciences.
The last two modules of the course are dedicated to the preparation and realization of the bachelor thesis.
