EIT Manufacturing Winter School

If you are a Ph.D. researcher and you want to boost your abilities and competencies in innovation and entrepreneurship for the manufacturing world and in an international setting, you can participate in the Winter School 2022 of the EIT Manufacturing (EITM) Doctoral School, focused on Product Service Systems for Sustainable Manufacturing and Creativity and Innovation Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Manufacturing.

Program outline

The EITM Winter School 2022 schedule alternates different learning experiences such as innovation & entrepreneurship activities, technical presentations on novel technologies in sustainable manufacturing, industrial business challenges, company and university labs visits and a social programme. The presented data will be available during the event for later use by the participant.

The main innovation topics touched on during the winter school are:

·Production of electric batteries

·Innovative solutions and technologies for tomorrow’s industry

·Additive manufacturing

·Automation for production systems management

·Technologies and organization for operations management

·Technologies and usages in the design studio of the future

The Program structure

The Winter School 2022 program is organized in two full time weeks. During the morning the participants will ideate a business idea to innovate the Manufacturing sector with a practical bootcamp and in the afternoon they will learn the latest state of the art of Product Service Sytems for making Manufacturing more sustainable. Professional networking opportunities with other PhD students researchers and entrepreneurs, labs and company visits will complte the programme.

How to apply?

Applications are open to Ph.D. candidates, scholars, and students with relevant backgrounds in the innovation processes and sustainable manufacturing and Professionals from manufacturing companies, people connected to manufacturing, i.e start-ups and company employees.

As applicants, you need to prepare: a CV, a motivation letter, a PhD topic description or the experience in manufacturing roles, the passport/ID card and apply at EITM Doctoral School Portal.

Selection & enrolment

The EITM Doctoral Scientific and Industrial Committee (EITM DSIC) will review the application materials through a competitive selection process based on the scientific excellence and the academic qualification of the applicants. A waiting list will be organized among the applicants, if needed.

Selected participants will be contacted by the EIT Manufacturing Doctoral School office to complete their enrolment. In case of withdrawal, candidates from the waiting list will be contacted in order to fill all available seats.

What does it cost?

• Main fee: 800 €
• Students and professionals from EITM partners: 700 €
• Students from the universities belonging to the EITM Doctoral School (but not enrolled into the Doctoral School): 500 €
• Professionals from the companies belonging to EITM Doctoral School SIC: 500 €
• Women: 500 €
• Students from the RIS countries: 500 €
• Early birds: you get a discount of 100€ of the prices above, if you apply before 15th October 2022.

NOTE: The Winter School fee can also be paid by a sponsor, such as the participant university, company etc.

Ideal applicants to the EITM winter school 2022 are PhD students, researchers, employees in manufacturing interested in learning how Product Service Systems (PSS) can improve sustainability in Manufacturing and they want to ideate a business concept starting from their PhD topic, research prototypes, company solutions etc.

Since the full EITM winter school is in English, applicants must understand, speak and read English fluenty.

International students must have a valid VISA to travel and temporarily study in France

Through the EITM Winter School 2022 participants not only learn latest scientific state of the art to apply to their research or daily work, but they also ideate a new business concept that they could then turn into a new startup or new business unit/spin-off for their company.

Moreover, the participants will be able to enlarge their academic and professional network to get further career opportunities.
