Introduction
Sport, recreation and events provide not only health, fitness and entertainment benefits to people worldwide, but they also comprise a multi-million dollar sector that generates employment for sport development managers, event managers, and more.
This course commences with an introduction to the sport, recreation and event sector and focuses on the key aspects of sport delivery systems, event management, leadership and programming, culture and professional identity development, sport and recreation facilities and services management, strategic and human resource management, marketing and communications, funding and finance, sports venue management, event operations management, legal aspects, and business research and planning. Students also undertake a range of professional industry practice opportunities and community-interactive project work in the relevant industries.
Students have the opportunity to further specialise in their studies with a stronger industry focus in various fields, such as marketing, sports science, human resource management, public relations, or tourism and hospitality management.
Students graduate ready to enter the fast-paced and dynamic sport, recreation and events sector, having learned the industry-focused theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to succeed.

**Internship Minor (MIBIOR) – Selected students (by application only) may enrol concurrently in FBL3400 Business Internship 1 and FBL3500 Business Internship 2 in their Year 3 (Semester 1) section of the course. Students who enrol in the Internship Minor (FBL3400/FBL3500 = 60 credit points) will complete an elective unit instead of SBL3500 or FBL3501.

Career opportunities for graduates exist within a range of professional, commercial, not-for-profit and government sport, recreation and event organisations at local, state, national and international levels. Within these types of organisations, your role may involve managing aspects of clubs, associations and federations, events, facilities, sport and entertainment venues, player and athlete development, programmes, activities and services, sales, communications and marketing or the hiring, training and supervising of staff.
