Bachelors in History

EOU’s online history degree prepares graduates for a variety of different career paths—our program is not just for future teachers. If you are interested in a doctoral program, law school, graduate school, business, government or archival and research work, then this program is for you. Our curriculum is similar to a liberal arts degree; faculty guide work featuring critical thinking, research and writing skills in addition to historical knowledge that will make you successful in a variety of fields.

Throughout the program, students will gain a historical background for the study of other disciplines through the development of critical thinking skills, informed reading and effective writing. Students will practice the tools necessary for responsible citizenship by emphasizing the continuity of culture through historical events and precedents.

Faculty in the history department are known for their collaboration and expertise. You will get to work with these professors, choose your capstone topic and create a thesis in preparation for real-world positions. Prepare for careers in education, public service, consulting, research, museums, archives and libraries or move into public administration, business or law.
