Dual Master of Social Work/Master of Business Administration

Social workers are called on to lead in a variety of roles in settings that require different skills. A firm understanding of business allows social workers to be ethical and effective in their diverse positions, such as running their own practices. With an MSW – MBA from Carlow University, students maintain flexibility in a low-residency program while learning to incorporate business and social work expertise, values and ethics into their careers.

Upon graduation, learners will have knowledge of how to manage employees, understand employment law, interpret data for decision-making, develop business plans and take on a multitude of high-level social work positions in areas where they can make a significant impact. Those who complete the program can incorporate their combined business and social work knowledge and ethical outlook to operate private practices, as well.

Guided by the values of the Sisters of Mercy, experienced Carlow faculty members work closely with students to help them accomplish their career goals and prepare them to meet the challenges of the diverse social work profession. Earning each degree individually could take multiple years. In our dual program, learners can graduate with a unique and in-demand set of skills within 3 years.
