Introduction
Campbellsville University's online Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education (P-5) provides students with the knowledge and skills to become elementary school teachers in Kentucky and teach at the primary through 5th grade (P–5) level. The program is delivered in a flexible format and can be completed in fours years or less depending on transfer credits. Students may be able to transfer in up to 72 credits from previous academic experience.
Coursework emphasizes the interdisciplinary content needed to teach all elementary subjects successfully. Additionally, students learn about the art and science of teaching, including classroom management, technology integration, and strategies for working with diverse students.
This degree culminates in a full semester of student teaching, allowing students to practice their new skills and apply what they learn in real classrooms. Students also receive personalized placement assistance to identify student teaching opportunities in their local community.
Graduates of this program are prepared for Praxis® exams and have the initial licensure required to teach at the P–5 level. A dual certification option is also available for special education.
Campbellsville's education programs are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). They are approved by the Education Professional Standards Board of Kentucky (EPSB) for teacher education and certification.
