Develop your skills as a learner, and look at problems from different perspectives. After an introduction to your online academic community and the key skills needed for the programme, you will improve the personal skills sought by employers.
Understanding the Business Environment
Get to grips with business structure and stakeholder responsibilities. You'll begin to understand core business concepts such as supply and demand, competition, markets, and government effects with this module.
English Legal System
Learn the differences between case law and legislation, and analyse how Parliament and the legal system work in conjunction. You’ll also develop your legal vocabulary, in order to understand the judiciary, delegated legislation, and categories of law in England and Wales.
Law of Contract
In this module, you’ll begin to unravel the elements of English contract law, and how it came to be what it is today. You’ll develop the skills to apply principles of contract law to help solve legal problems.
Principles of Marketing
This module starts with basic definitions, after which, you’ll learn to analyse businesses and wider markets. You’ll learn to break markets down into segments and apply dynamic marketing tools to your marketing strategy.
People in Organisations
Successful organisations know how to lead and motivate their staff, and this module explores the things that make people tick. You’ll learn how teams work best, and how to effectively manage change.
Level 5
Research Ethics in Action
This module gives you the chance to showcase your abilities through a piece of work of your own design. You’ll determine the methodology, develop a range of skills, and consider the ethical issues of the work you are undertaking. Later, you’ll include this in a practical way as you work towards your final project.
Managing Across Cultures
Global business requires us to take into account national cultures. This module asks how our products will work in different markets, how to facilitate a multicultural workforce, and other issues critical to modern business.
Law of Tort 1 – Tort of Negligence
In the broad area of law known as Tort, the largest component is termed 'negligence'. You'll consider which responsibilities are owed to individuals or organisations, and the consequences for falling short.
Law of Tort 2 – Land and Other Torts
You will cover topics such as trespass, nuisance, and defamation in this second Tort module. Applying these rules to real-life problems, this module will develop your ability to deal with breaches of the law and protect people from risk.
European Union Law
Nobody knows how relations between the UK and EU will change in the coming years, though European Law has had a significant impact in the UK. This will not be wiped out overnight, and an understanding of EU law will be necessary for some years to come.
Enterprise & Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurs at all levels need certain tools and techniques to enable them to thrive. This module is about moving forward in big business, from initial innovation through to early growth and beyond.
Level 6
Company Law
Explore the essentials of modern company law, and consider how key theories and practices related to each other. Examining some of the contemporary ethical issues facing modern business, you will have the chance to gain hands-on experience, forming your own ‘mock’ company to explore the topic.
Employment Law
This module looks at the delicate balance between employee, employer, trade unions, the government and the EU. You’ll explore worker’s rights, global downturn, employee and child protection, and build plenty of transferable skills for the workplace.
Contemporary Management Issues
Using the most up-to-date thinking, this module probes the issues facing managers today, including sustainability, moral and ethical choices, and corporate values. You’ll reflect on the changing world, including globalisation, the communities we live in, and the ways our economic landscape is changing.
International Management
Delve into the ways international companies function with teams around the world. Learn to manage far-flung teams with cultural differences, using the most effective techniques.
Research Planning & Project
This final module gives you the opportunity to specialise in an area of the programme that has most interested you. With your supervising tutor, you will determine an interdisciplinary area related to your degree to research. You will need to incorporate all the skills acquired on the programme to complete this major work.
