The School of Art History's BFA program blends academic inquiry and practice with one of the most extensive studios art and design programs in the world. Merging the classical tradition of studying western art with the skills and practice of fine art education, our students gain the unique perspective and ability to discuss broad themes around history's most enduring and inspiring works of art.

This is a required course for Berklee College of Music campus students, and they often wonder—when they are here to study music—how looking at visual works is relevant to them. But they soon realize that at the core of it, what all these artists were doing, whether thousands of years ago or just last week, is exactly what they're doing now: figuring out how to channel their passion and curiosity into creating something.

When you learn how to mix music that is pleasing to listeners, it is a true art form. The manipulation of the source signals’ level, dynamics, and panoramic position, and the addition of effects such as reverb and delay, can have a huge impact on the overall feel of a song.
