The essence of distance learning is that the students do not come to the university, but the university to a certain extent to the students. Both the study organization and the didactic orientation of the study materials are based on the needs of the Independent Learning Concept. Each degree program has a virtual learning environment on the online campus that guides through the course of the course.
The certificate course Technoethik has a standard duration of study of two semesters (extra occupational). For the study and examinations a weekly time of about 15 hours is required. These services are to be provided in the form of submission tasks and exams.
The concept of the DISC is essentially based on self-study phases, which are deepened and supplemented by attendance phases. Mandatory attendance phases usually take place once a semester on a (extended) weekend in Kaiserslautern. In doing so, the contents developed in the self-study are deepened in a practice-oriented way in the context of exercises and group work, and the practical implementation of the study contents is discussed. In modules, which are completed with a written exam, these are also part of the attendance phases.
