The Program aims to acquire a specialization in contemporary approaches of Social Work in theoretical and practical level. In particular, the knowledge you gain will allow more effective practicing of the profession in public, non-governmental - voluntary and / or private organizations Social Welfare.
The main objective of the Program is to develop a culture of horizontal learning in social work issues both in Cyprus and in the European area. Students will have the opportunity to indulge in knowledge of modern theories of Social Work and the assessment and intervention methods, the current social policy, the administration of social services, such as those operating at national and European level. At the same time, explore the roles and principles of social work in transdisciplinary framework in the field of Health and Welfare.
Under this approach, highlighted the nature and character of Social Work, analyzes the way in which the various sectors and services are related and influence each other, and identify issues that need special attention in order to produce practical and applicable knowledge to meet the current and challenges.
The first specific objective of the Programme is to improve the efficiency and productivity of employees in Social Welfare. The second specific objective is to understand the social challenges created by the rapid political and economic and social changes in the European and world space.
Students will have the opportunity to thoroughly study the presented challenges, to understand different models of prevention and response to social crises and new needs of recipients of care, both general and specific level. The program is structured in such a way that enables students to specialize in areas of particular interest,
Through attendance and successful completion of their studies, increased possibilities of employment offered to government, non-governmental - voluntary and private organizations operating at local, regional, national and European level both the overall level of Social Welfare, and more specialized positions (head / h).
Access to Further Studies
Graduates of the program will also be able to pursue a doctoral degree in Social Work in Social Policy, Public Administration or any other related area if they wish. The design of this program takes into account these prospects through the specification possibility graduate thesis. Choosing the thesis writing, students will have the opportunity to work in an essential part of a future research project and will be placed in advantageous position in their possible application in a doctoral program as opposed to graduates who do not have a thesis-writing experience.
