In today’s global economy, most major challenges facing organizations require computing solutions, from expanding markets overseas to providing access to education in rural areas. The most sought-after business leaders will be those who have mastered both fundamentals of Business and achieved a high level of competency in information technology. The online courses are being developed and taught by the same faculty members who teach the traditional in-class sections of the courses, thereby assuring the quality of the online courses is as good as or better than the traditional in-class instruction.

In the Bachelor’s degree program, you will learn the fundamental principles of computer hardware and software systems and how to apply them to operational decision-making. A concentration in Health Care Informatics is available.

The MIS program through the College of Business and Management has been accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International. Only 10% of business colleges in the world receive that distinction.

Bachelor of Science Curriculum

Foundational Requirements:

All majors in the College of Business and Management require foundation knowledge in accounting, economics, mathematics, and statistics.

College Core

The college core is required of all undergraduates in the College of Business and Management. The concepts of these classes include Financial Management, Marketing, Operations Management, Organizational Behavior, Management of Information Systems, and Strategic Management.

MIS degree requirements

Bachelors in Management Information Systems curriculum is designed to provide the student with the analytical and practical framework and methodologies to analyze, design, implement and manage complex information systems in contemporary organization structures. Students that finish the program receive technical and organizational knowledge that allows them to apply systems analysis strategies that are applicable in a variety of professional organizations.

The University of Illinois Springfield also offers a Master of Science in Management Information System. The Master's Degree program focuses on everything from balancing technical expertise with business foundations knowledge in the applications of information technology to solving problems.
