Programs may specialize in air traffic control, airport design and development, aircraft safety, or law, depending on students’ goals and interests. Some programs may offer internship opportunities or co-op learning experiences.

Most master’s programs in aviation, regardless of specialization, seek to instill analytic and problem-solving skills for effective aviation management at all levels. These skills are developed in conjunction with data analysis skills necessary for understanding the technical information that is a part of the field. Students can also build written and oral communication skills through research and class assignments.
