Directed to lawyers, doctoral students, public officials, diplomats, journalists, personnel of companies with international relations departments, of Non-Governmental Organizations, the content of the Master focuses on a thorough knowledge of the economy and international law; the coexistence between States, the resolution of conflicts and the maintenance of security and world peace.

Presentation and Objectives

The Online Master's Degree in International Law and International Relations offers a systematic and in-depth knowledge of international law and international relations to those pursuing a specialization in these subjects, whether for academic or professional purposes.

Objectives of the course

The main learning objective of this Master in International Law and International Relations is to train qualified professionals with a high-level theoretical-practical profile that allows the recognition of their competences.

Upon completing the course and passing the established tests, the student will receive the Master's Degree (in-house), in International Law and International Relations, issued by the Instituto Universitario de Investigación Ortega y Gasset of Madrid.

Those who wish to take one or several modules, but not all of them, will obtain, if they pass the tests established for this purpose, the Specialist Degree in the subject (or subjects enrolled and passed).

Admission requirements

The Master's Degree in International Law and International Relations is aimed at University Graduates (Graduates, Graduates, Diplomats and Engineers), of all branches of knowledge or students of last year, who have an interest in obtaining a specialization in the field of International Law and International Relations.

Pre-registration and admission process

The regular pre-admission period, for the 2018/2019 academic year, ends on January 30, 2019. During the same the student must send the request for admission to the address infocursos@fogm.es , forwarding the following scanned documentation and submitting the original ones by mail to the postal address: Instituto Universitario de Investigación Ortega y Gasset (c / Fortuny, 53 - 28010-MADRID).

  • Brief explanatory memory of the reasons for carrying out the program (20-25 lines).
  • Photocopy of passport or ID
  • 2 Passport size photos
  • Photocopy of the Superior Degree of graduate and graduate
  • Letters of recommendation (optional)
  • Photocopy of the certification of the studies carried out that shows the official duration, in academic years, of the curriculum followed, the courses taken and the workload of each of them.

The Instituto Universitario de Investigación Ortega y Gasset notify the student of the pre-admission, and from that moment, will have a period of 10 days for the interested party to formalize the reservation of the place.

The Instituto Universitario de Investigación Ortega y Gasset reserves the right to cancel the Master's edition, if there is not enough students to guarantee the viability of the same.

Program

The content of the program is divided into six modules:

  1. Keys to the current international economy
  2. International relations
  3. Public International Law: subjects, sources and compliance
  4. The coexistence between States: the external dimension of sovereignty and the State and its agents
  5. Dispute settlement and maintenance of international peace and security
  6. The protection of international people and crimes

Schedule

The program will begin in February 2019 and will continue until December 2019. The student who has successfully passed the subjects that make up the teaching, should prepare a final report on a current issue, which will be protected by a teacher of the program.

Evaluation

The evaluation of the teaching will be: 20% the participation in the forums, 40% the weighted average of the tests carried out in the prescriptive times for it; and 40% the weighted average of the case studies.

The students will have to prepare a final report that will be given to the tutors so that they can submit a proposal of qualification to the Program Management before October 30, 2019.

The final evaluation will be the weighting of the qualification of the teaching (60%) and that of the final report (40%).

Virtual Methodology

The study methodology of the online course will have:

  • Study plans, fully updated and rigorous that will be an inexcusable support for the acquisition of theoretical knowledge that will allow us to approach the international practice in an analytical way.
  • Practical cases, in which students can apply the acquired theoretical knowledge and advance in the analysis of current factual assumptions.
  • Guardianship or daily monitoring of students by the teachers assigned to each of the modules, as well as answering any questions that students may have. The tutelage involves the permanent and personalized supervision of the acquisition of the knowledge that is pursued with this program.
  • Test exercises that serve the student to check the pace of acquisition of the knowledge required to obtain the title.

Custom tracking

The tutors, in addition to assuming the tasks mentioned in the previous section, will invigorate the discussion forums. The communication will preferably be through electronic means: virtual classroom, regular tutoring or private e-mail.

Scholarships

Scholarships of the ALUMNI Program

Former students of Instituto Universitario de Investigación Ortega y Gasset will be entitled to a 5% discount on any new program they enroll. This discount, which will be considered a scholarship, will be applied to the tuition fee, excluding the fees paid to the University of reference. The discount will be applied in the last installment of the tuition payment.

To apply for this scholarship, the student will have to submit an application to the Institute's secretariat, as well as the documentation that proves that he or she has been a student of the Institute.

In no case, this discount will be applied to second or successive enrollments of subjects that have not been approved or to subjects of the same program that have not been completed in the first year of enrollment.

Permanency Regulations (IUIOG)

Students enrolled in the IUIOG's own degree programs have two examinations (ordinary / extraordinary) per subject in each academic year and must complete the studies, at most, in two academic years counted from their first enrollment.

Convocation of grace
In exceptional cases, the student may request, through an instance addressed to the Academic Directorate of IUIOG, the granting of one year of grace that allows him to enroll in the degree in order to reach the established controls.

The Call for Grace Application must be presented in the academic year immediately after the year in which the permanence ends and must demonstrate and demonstrate that special circumstances have occurred that have prevented the student from having a full dedication to the studies.

The Academic Committee will resolve previous report of the Academic Direction of the Program and will communicate to the student / a for its effects.
