Admission

General admission criteria

In keeping with its standing as a high-ranking institution, the University of Liverpool sets high standards for applicants to its online postgraduate programmes.

You will generally be expected to have a suitable combination of these three elements:

  • Work experience. You may be expected to have a minimum amount of relevant working experience.
  • Educational qualifications. This will usually be a bachelor’s or master’s degree, depending on the programme for which you are applying; vocational and professional qualifications can also count
  • A good standard of written English. If English is not your native language, you will be asked to demonstrate a particular level of English proficiency

For this reason, admissions staff may take into account a range of factors, both academic and non-academic, in assessing applicants’ merit and potential.

Your work or professional experience is important. If you are successfully admitted to a University of Liverpool online programme, you will draw on your professional experience in order to complete assignments and participate fully in the online classroom. Specific admission requirements – master’s programmes

A minimum of two years of relevant work experience if you do not hold a degree in Engineering, IT, Business or Computer Science

English Proficiency

Applicants for whom English is not a mother tongue will need to demonstrate English proficiency comparable to IELTS 6.5, TEEP 6.5, and TOEFL scores of around 600 (paper-based test) or around 90 (internet test), or GCSE C.
