Information Security Strategy Development
Any organisation using IT solutions should plan to manage security threats. An essential activity, this requires effective, flexible strategies to be implemented by those with specialist knowledge. This module explores the methods and standards used in developing robust strategies, with a focus on the main technologies in play. You’ll explore current security strategies and computer forensic skills in two case studies.
Risk Management
This module will equip you with a grounding in two topics that go hand in hand – risk management and innovation theory. Applying in practice within the engineering environment, you will learn to evaluate the relationship between risk, and the ways to leverage it to facilitate innovation. You will tackle the implications this has on organisational culture, and use practical scenarios to investigate the varied impacts on business practices.
IT Security Management
Cybersecurity measures of modern organisations are supported by consistent policies and methods, and this module studies the techniques required to manage IT security systems of all sizes. You will also learn to develop and implement security recovery plans, and evaluate your current organisational practice against policies that govern and support it, and recommend improvements.
Information Systems Governance
As systems grow more complex, governance grows increasingly important. You’ll evaluate the role governance plays in mitigating risk and maximising the benefits of the reliance on systems and software. You’ll recognise the key role governance strategy plays, and audit current governance approaches for critique.
Cloud Systems and Applications
You’ll evaluate the development of cloud computing systems, and their usage within organisations. This module considers the benefits, whilst providing you with a balanced understanding of the consequences of the distributed technologies. You will assess their changing nature, and critically analyse their implementation into the workplace.
Research Project:
This vital project gives you a chance to research an area of your choice, related to the programme theme, and develop your critical abilities. You’ll create a research proposal and choose between a conventional dissertation, or an academic article and presentation. Then you’ll apply all of your knowledge from the programme, with the opportunity to link your research to your actual work needs.

Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for this course you must normally have:
A UK honours degree at a minimum of second class (2.2) or equivalent.
For students whose prior learning was not taught in English: IELTS 6.5 or equivalent (no less than 6.0 in any element).
What if I don’t have academic qualifications?
