The world is increasingly becoming more globally connected. And for those with the courage to pursue it, opportunities expand beyond borders. Communities are coming together to learn, collaborate, innovate and adapt. One bridge, which connects those opportunities: is the English language. The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam is a standardly accepted evidence of English proficiency by non-native English speakers in over 9,000 organizations from more than 140 countries. Moreover, the IELTS exam has an international reputation as being the most widely recognized English test across the globe, due to its high quality and control criteria. The exam is used not only for immigration purposes but also for education and professional reasons.
The Aston American University IELTS test preparation program offers a standard and a premium package and will provide students with the applicable testing knowledge, and will assist students to score the highest possible "band" score (result) on the IELTS exam. Live certified instructors from Aston American University will also provide IELTS prep students with the necessary tools to complete all course materials designed to supplement the ability to score well on test day. In addition to one-on-one private office hours, each student will have personalized attention for all activities and assignments.
By taking your next step to prepare for the IELTS exam at Aston American University, you will gain sufficient knowledge that is required to apply yourself in the four test areas of the English language:
Prior to starting an IELTS prep course at Aston American University, students must take an assessment placement test to assess each student’s current level of English proficiency. The assessment test will determine the appropriate course level students are to be placed to best succeed on test day.
Students who do not meet the requirement to be placed in either Level B1 or Level B2 will be required to take a preliminary ESL (English as a Second Language) course. This is necessary to better prepare students for the higher degree of English proficiency, which is mandatory for either levels of the Aston American University IELTS prep courses. For students who complete any of the course levels and underperform, or barely meet the minimum course objectives, Aston American University may suggest to repeat the course or to enroll in the next course level (B2) before taking the IELTS exam.

Upon completion of the assessment test, students will be placed in either:
- You understand the basic core aspects of the English language, and are able to interpret the main points of discussion in common social settings;
- You are currently able to interact in most common situations where the English language is spoken; and
- You can relate and describe common experiences, and be able to reason by providing explanations and feedback.
- You understand the main points to complex and abstract details, and are able to comprehend and communicate on a technical level;
- You clearly communicate with fluidity to hold a conversation, and interact with other English speakers in a variety of social settings; and
- You display clear reasoning to explain supportive and opposing viewpoints in a wide range of topics.
Each level (B1 or B2) is a 10-week online course, which begins on the first week of each month (for new students). Students are required to study online three to four (3-4) hours per week and to complete all assignments. The introduction session of the online course is instructed by private English instructors who will guide each student through the learning system. During the remainder of the course, private instructors will routinely follow up with each student’s progress; checking grades, assignments, and communicating with students regarding any IELTS prep concerns.
Throughout the course, each student will receive the full support and assistance of both their private English instructor and the supporting staff of Aston American University. Supporting staff members of Aston American University will monitor to ensure that students are progressing smoothly according to each student’s IELTS prep schedule and that all assignments and activities are completed.
Exam System and Course Passing
Students must attend the required online web conferences (one-to-one sessions) with their instructor for all allocated times in addition to completing all online coursework. Students who do not complete all requirements of the program will not be eligible to pass and may have to re-take the course. Instructors may suggest additional tutoring hours for students who are not ready to progress to the next stage of their IELTS prep.
The e-learning system is an online educational management system with tailored course materials where students and lecturers interact. Course materials include presentations, readings, videos, assignments, quizzes, and a final exam. Following enrollment, a unique username and password will be issued for each student to access the e-learning platform.
