Human Resources Management and Practices Support FET Certificate


Program Description


Students registered for this further education certificate will learn essential administrative duties related to human resources management and practices. Students will learn how to implement procedures and systems that relate to human resources planning, recruitment and selection, compensation and employee relations. Following the completion of this course, successful students will understand how to advise and respond to human-resource-related queries in an organization.

The course is NQF aligned and SABPP accredited and it is comprised of 6 modules including:

  • Fundamental Communication 1
  • Fundamental Communication 2
  • Fundamental Numeracy
  • The Business Environment
  • Introduction to HR Management
  • Employee Wellness

Students will learn the fundamental concepts of Business Communication and Business Numeracy which are vital to the business environment. The course also covers basic business concepts and the different legal contracts within business. In modules 4, 5 and 6 the student learns key Human Resources concepts and various aspects that an HR Manager has to know and understand. These include the understanding of employment relations, recruitment, inductions, and management of teams. The final module focuses on the importance of employee wellness in the workplace.

Academy of York students receives continuous information and support, over and above the prescribed course material, to assist students through their studies, in order for students to competently complete their studies. Students will have a choice of completing this qualification in either 14 or 24 months.

Up to 24 months.

Entry Requirements

  • If you have a National Certificate (Matric) with 2 languages over 55% you can apply for RPL for Module 1 and 2.
  • If you have National Certificate (Matric) with Mathematics over 55% (NOT Maths Literacy) you can apply for RPL for Module 3.

Assessment and Award

This qualification will be assessed by means of 6 Summative Assessments and one written Centralised Final Integrated Summative Assessment. Students must have achieved a competent grade in all 6 Modules before they may attempt the written Centralised Final Integrated Summative Assessment. Exam venues are available in all major South African cities (please contact us for specific venues and dates.) Fees for the Centralised Final Integrated Summative Assessment are not covered within the course fee. The current SABPP fee is R1,350 and is subject to change. A final mark of 65% is required before the National Certificate can be awarded.

AOY Accreditation

Academy of York is accredited by FASSET SETA, SAIOSH, HWSETA, SABPP, PMSA, CompTIA, COMENSA and the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB), and is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training as a Private College.

This course is accredited by SABPP, South African Board for People Practices. The SABPP is a SAQA recognized the professional body and regulates statutory quality and standards for People Professions.
