In this first module we will learn the necessary concepts to be able to speak correctly about typography and classify typographically.
We will analyze the importance of corporate typography in companies, we will see the key elements when choosing a typeface for a company, both from a practical and logistical point of view, and we will study practical cases of corporate typefaces that have been successful.
Finally, we will design a typographic logo and its basic corporate applications.
Module 2. Typography in the editorial environment
In this module we will learn to differentiate the two levels of typesetting: character composition and paragraph composition, as well as the importance of line spacing, box width, and proper columnar.
We will study how to correctly use the partition and justification settings and how the visual hierarchy orders the contents and allows a clearer and more agile communication. We will see what it is and the importance of orthotypography when it comes to understanding a text correctly.
Finally, we will design an editorial publication using typography as a background element.
Module 3. Typography in the web environment
In this module we will analyze the formats that currently exist within typography, both old and current, and we will show the pros and cons of these.
We will know the fonts intended for printing and high resolution systems and those intended for use in low resolution devices, and the importance of web fonts and their advantages. We will learn how Hinting is done and applied for a good display of a font on the screen. And we will talk about text as a navigation tool.
