The participant studies the technical notes and the audios that show the theoretical content that is required for the use of the class. This documentation - entertaining, clear and concise - is focused and goes to the core of the class, without accessory elements.
Usually it is not necessary to go to other sources of documentation. We understand that the Mid Atlantic participant is a person who works and wants to make the most of their time. These documents are knowledge "pills".
If deemed appropriate, the teacher provides additional readings, links, etc. to the technical notes, the reading of which, although recommended, is not essential for the follow-up of the class.
Phase 2: Practices
They are exercises of different types, usually questionnaires, that serve as an incentive to study the documentation of the class with the necessary depth. They help to reinforce key concepts, a minimum number of hits is usually required to prevent the participant from answering randomly.
Phase 3: Case Preparation
A case is the description of a real situation that occurred in a specific company, at a specific moment in time or in a succession of them. It contains information - economic, commercial, human ... - that is transmitted throughout the text or video.
As in real life, the information presented by the case may be more or less relevant, limited, etc. It can describe a problematic and sensitive situation for the life of the company or, conversely, an optimal situation. As in real life, there is no single valid or "best" solution; and, in fact, the participant is not evaluated by "hitting" the one the teacher considers most appropriate, but by the consistency of the analysis process and the argument that have led to his "solution."
The resolution of the case is key in learning. It confronts the student (future businessman or manager) with a way of solving problems analogous to those that arise in professional life; In the Executive MBA we do it in a “simulator” that tries to reproduce similar conditions, but with different results, depending on the path chosen by the groups of professionals and students who participate in the business case.
Phase 4: Business forums and discussions
After individual work, in which each participant has analyzed the case and structured their solutions, the debate takes place in the forum. The forum is an essential element of communication and knowledge among the participants themselves.
In the forum the points of view are expanded and contrasted with the rest of the colleagues. The teacher guides and establishes the guidelines for the debate, so that it unfolds in an orderly and constructive manner, and everyone gets an answer to the questions and concerns that have been raised in the course of the class. After the debate, the teacher adds some conclusions by way of closing, where he emphasizes the relevant aspects and comments on the ideas that in his opinion have been less clear.
Synchronous and simultaneous sessions - direct participation
In each module the teacher organizes one or two synchronous sessions where the participant has the opportunity to listen directly to the teacher and get in touch with the rest of the classmates. These sessions can consist of the resolution of a case that has been delivered previously, or a conference with high participation by the participants. These sessions are recorded so that those who have not been able to attend can take advantage of the content of the session.
