Whether it’s reading between the lines, exploring the written and spoken word, or developing your writing skills in several genres, this qualification is for you. With stimulating options in English literature, English language and creative writing, it provides opportunities to encounter a range of texts from different historical periods and diverse cultural settings; explore English language use in global contexts; and develop and reflect on your own writing practice.

We make all our qualifications as accessible as possible and have a comprehensive range of services to support all our students. The Diploma of Higher Education in English uses a variety of study materials and has the following elements:
- studying a mixture of printed and online material. Online learning resources may include websites, audio/video media clips, and interactive activities such as online quizzes.
- working with specialist reading material such as works of art and musical manuscripts
- working in a group with other students
- undertaking practical work
- using specialist software (for example the Sibelius music writing package or Design/Engineering Studio)

Course details
This diploma has two stages, each comprising 120 credits.
- Stage 1 combines an introductory arts and humanities module with a choice of beginning to study English language or learning about cultures throughout history.
- Next, in Stage 2, you’ll choose two from modules in English literature, English language and creative writing.
