Harvest Education Technical College (HETC)

The Diploma of Beauty Therapy is a Nationally Recognised Qualification is delivered by distance education (online).

This qualification reflects the role of individuals employed as beauty therapists to provide a broad range of beauty therapy treatments and services including facial treatments, body massage and treatments, hair removal, lash and brow treatments, nail and make-up services. This includes consultation with clients to provide beauty advice, recommend beauty treatments and services, and sell retail skin-care and cosmetic products.

These individuals work relatively autonomously, and are accountable for personal outputs. Their work involves the self-directed application of knowledge and skills with substantial depth in some areas where judgement is required in planning and selecting appropriate equipment, services and techniques.

Please note that this qualification is taught and assessed holistically. This means that there is no exit point until the completion of the course and Statement of Attainment can not be issued until all assessments have been submitted and deemed competent.

Learning Outcome

The Diploma of Beauty Therapy provides the skills, knowledge and qualifications required to deliver a comprehensive range of beauty therapy services. Covering lash and brow treatments, hair removal, massage, makeup and more, graduates will develop an extensive array of advanced practical skills that empower them to set up their own business or embark upon an exciting career as a beauty therapist.

Prerequisite Requirements

Beginners computing skills such as research online through accessing Internet browsers, using Skype to conduct meetings, typing, creating and saving word related documents such as notepad, Microsoft Word, accessing PDF, PowerPoint and web video documents, downloading and uploading documents etc. Please feel free to contact us if you are unsure of whether you meet the requirements.

Required Resources

To complete the practicum part of this course you will need to organise and access 15-20 different clients with different skin types. These practicum sessions will be supervised by HETC’s qualified beauty therapy trainer through Skype. Students are expected to make appointments with their beauty therapy trainers for these Skype sessions. HETC has public liability insurance which covers practicum outside of our campuses.

Domestic Students Entry Requirements

Domestic Students (VET FEE-HELP)

  • 18 years old or above AND
  • Attaining a Senior Secondary Certificate of Education that has been awarded by an agency or authority of a State or Territory for the completion of Year 12; OR
  • Displaying competence at or above Exit Level 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) in both Reading and Numeracy (via an approved testing tool from the government, on application).

Domestic Students (Self-Funded)

  • Achieving a minimum level of academic qualification equivalent to an Australian Year 11 high school certificate; OR
  • Passing HETC’s internal academic entry test
