Working safely is in the interest and concern of all staff – both the employers and employees. Although most of the legal duties fall to the employer, Health and Safety law is one of the few pieces of legislation that places duties on the employee as well. There are three reasons for managing risk at work that bring benefit for all concerned – moral; not causing harm to work colleagues, legislative; the law requires it! – And finally financial; all accidents bear a cost to both parties. Workers have an expectation to go home at the end of the working day not having been injured by any workplace activity. Most workers feel that accidents are something that only happens to other people. The reality is that too many workers are coming to harm by not observing Health and Safety laws and not working to safe systems of work. That’s where our working safely course can help. The course covers why we should work safely, defines hazard and risk, identifying common hazards, improving safety performance and protecting the environment. Finance Fundamentals: Financial Planning and Budgeting starts by looking at the current economic backcloth and its impact on household finances. We then move on to explore your attitude to financial management and whether you have bad financial habits and how these should be addressed. We introduce a simple four-stage model for making financial decisions before moving on to examine the two components of household budgeting – income and expenditure. In doing this we learn about the impact of inflation and taxation on incomes and the support to households provided by the state benefit system. In examining expenditure we look at the pressures placed on us to spend our money, how to shop with confidence on the internet and on how ‘heuristics’ can interfere with good spending decision-making. The course finishes by looking at a key area of household spending: insurance. We examine when to insure and when to bear the risks yourself without buying an insurance policy. We use the financial planning model, introduced at the start of the course, to make good decisions when buying insurance. This facilitated 4-week course is up-to-date and uses an array of audio-visual assets to help you through the subject matter. Get an introduction to how HR, specifically Green HR, can help create a business that’s environmentally friendly. [+]

Online Courses in Economics and Administration in United Kingdom. Sustainability is an embedded practice in many businesses. It recognises the long term benefits of acknowledging the social and environmental impacts of production and consumption. While governments encourage responsible social and environmental action, implementation is often left to individual organisations and many of these are under pressure from shareholders driven by a profit-centred return on investment (ROI) model. And so, environmental and sustainable practices often become a HR matter - it’s people that must make the difference. This course will explore what constitutes sustainability from both ecological and business perspectives. We will investigate the emergence of sustainable approaches to human resources, known as ‘Green HR’, and identify various types of sustainability models. Examine Green HR in the fashion industry We will take you on a journey through the fashion industry where we’ll explore the essential features of Green HR, including the value placed on human capital and the necessary balancing of sustainable values and business viability. Make sustainable business work in practice Operating a sustainable business is a balancing act. We will examine how sustainability and Green HR can work in practice by examining: How to change mindsets to balance self-interest and social responsibility How to identify and overcome barriers to sustainable business The drivers of change towards a sustainable approach How to implement a multi-stage approach to sustainability The role of Green HR in developing, implementing and maintaining sustainable shared values and initiatives.
