Best Online Courses in Archaeology 2019

Usually lasting only a few days or weeks, a course is an educational program that can offer students the opportunity to study a topic of interest. While courses usually do not result in a degree, some may award certificates.

What is an online course in archaeology? In such a course, students will usually study past cultures and the evidence they have left behind. The coursework may focus on a specific time period to study or take a look at a specific geographic area. Topics that may be covered include Mediterranean archaeology, ancient technology, techniques for dating artifacts, art history and prehistoric archaeology. The reconstruction of a society through found artifacts is often discussed. Students can also learn about the societies that lived in the areas being studied.

Completing a course can give students new insight into the past and a knowledge of different ancient cultures. Skills learned in a course may be transferable to an array of fields but will be especially useful to those already working in archaeology.

Because courses can be diverse, costs can vary. Your best cost estimate will come directly from the school you have chosen to attend.

Many students wish to advance into a degree program after taking a course in archaeology. Earning a degree can help students to train for careers that include museum curator, heritage manager, archaeologist and conservation officer. However, those who do not wish to continue their education may find what they learn in a course useful when working as records managers, archivists, tourism officers and cartographers.

A course in archaeology can allow you to study ancient cultures and learn more about finding and preserving artifacts. It can be a great stepping stone to a career as an archaeologist or in a current position in a history-related field. Search for your program below and contact directly the admission office of the school of your choice by filling in the lead form.

Over the length of this Shipwrecks and Submerged Worlds course we will learn about maritime archaeology together - exploring underwater landscapes from the ancient Mediterranean to the prehistoric North Sea, and consider Shipwrecks from the Indian Ocean to the Pacific coast of the Americas....
