Structure and Content
This Degree programme is accredited by three major Accountancy professional bodies and is suitable for students intending to pursue a career in Accountancy or Financial Services sectors.
What makes this programme compelling is that students can get exemptions from Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) qualifications after they graduate. They can get exemptions for:
Up to 7 ACCA papers (Fundamental level)
Up to 6 CIMA papers
Up to 5 ICAEW papers
This programme is also aligned to Investment Management Certificate (IMC) syllabus. IMC provides the ideal foundation for those with future plans to enrol in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) programme as it covers 30% of the CFA Level I curriculum.

This Degree programme accepts a wide range of qualifications, which include:

Kaplan Diploma
Other Private Diplomas and/or Foreign qualifications will be assessed on a case-by-case basis
In all cases, the final decision for admission to the programme rests with the University.

Delivery Methods
Students will attend a combination of lectures, tutorials and workshops on the programme. Each unit is provided with 24 hours of academic induction/seminar sessions over the duration of the trimester. Programmes are scheduled for 5 days a week, 3 hours a day. Students are expected to be on campus for classes, workshops and self-study.
Assessment Methods
Each unit is assessed by any combination of mid-term tests, individual essays, reports, individual and group presentations. Assessment methods may vary according to individual unit requirements.
Graduation and Degree
Students who successfully complete and pass the modules stipulated in the course structure will be awarded the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Accounting and Finance from the University of Essex.
The Degree awards will be the same as that awarded to the on-campus graduates.
Programme Fees
The total fee covers university registration, lectures/tutorials/workshops and assessments such as assignments/tests/examinations/projects (where applicable), programme materials in digital format, Degree (if earned) and transcript.
